Historical Background and Location

The College of Food Technology, Yavatmal was established in the year 2019. This is a constituent college under Dr. Panjabrao Deshmukh Krishi Vidyapeeth, Akola. This college is first Government Food Technology College in Vidarbha Region established by Govt. of Maharashtra vide GR No. 1518/99(1)/ 7-A, dated 28/11/2018 and started functioning from July- 2019. The College is located at Waghapur Road, Yavatmal, Dist. Yavatmal-445001. New Building of Institute is under construction and will be ready in service soon. The institute provides all the facilities for learning and skill development in the field of Food Technology with the main aim at developing three dimensional personalities in the student, viz.,

  • Pursuit of knowledge
  • Commitment to economic, social and cultural upliftment of masses and
  • Cultivation taste of knowledge and literature.

       We shall develop skilled personnel and entrepreneurs in the field of Food Technology which are urgent need of the country. CollegeofFoodTechnologyisenvisionedasacenterofexcellenceineducation and research that will help to transform India into a knowledge based society.

 

Connectivity

Roads

Yavatmal is well connected by the road to the nearby cities like Nagpur, Wardha, Amravati, Akola etc.

Railways

At present the nearest broad gauge railway station is at Dhamangaon which is 48 km. away from Yavatmal.

Airport

At present nearest International Airport is at Nagpur which is located about 140 km away from Yavatmal and another Domestic Airport at Yavatmal itself is under development.

Library :

Library of College of Food Technology, Yavatmal, has a Reading Hall, Books Stacks, Arranged Periodicals, Reference Section. The book collection of College library is more than 500 which include text books, reference books, periodicals, etc.

         Institute has well established and state to art library having books and Journals, Periodicals related to the field of Food Technology and Allied subjects. Online e-books & Digital content are available in library.

 

Academic Programmes

The Maharashtra Council of Agricultural Education and Research (MCAER), Pune is a statutory body constituted under section 12 of Maharashtra Agricultural Universities Act, 1983 in exercise of the powers conferred upon MCAER in the provision (8) of sub section 3 of the Act. Common rules and regulations for admission to various degree programmes in State Agricultural Universities have been formulated. B. Tech. (Food Technology) Professional degree programme is of 4 years duration spread over 8 semesters with credit load of 185 and eligibility for the course is XII standard science passed in  10+2 pattern from Maharashtra State Board of Higher Secondary Education or equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and English, with optional subject Biology. The medium of instruction is English. The 1st and 2nd semester normally starts in the month of July and Januaryrespectively.Intake capacity of the UG programme is 40.

  • To facilitate a harmonious symphony of excellence in teaching with a well-rounded motivational approach.
  • To devise tools and techniques of Food Technology.
  • To develop new and novel value added products, processes, platform technologies and the patents.

Mode of Admission

Online Process for Admission

          State Common Entrance Test has been done mandatory for admission to the Undergraduate Courses of Food Technology in Maharashtra State from academic year 2018-19. However, JEE / NEET / AIEEA-UG (All India Entrance Examination Test for Admission conducted by Indian Council of Agricultural Research, New Delhi) examinations will also be considered instead of MHT- CET.

        Admission to all B. Tech. (Food Technology) Professional Degree programme shall be on the basis of 70% marks obtained in CET conducted by competent authority [MHT-CET / JEE / NEET / AIEEA-UG] and 30% marks of total percentage at qualifying examination / (XII std. Science) and the other weightages will be as per the existing provisions / rules of MCAER, Pune.

          Online process of the MHT-CET examination started form 18th January 2018. Details of this examination are available on www.dtemaharashtra.gov.in/mhtcet2018 website. Aspiring candidates shall visit this website and submit their online application form.

          After declaration of MHT-CET results the students are require to visit www.mcaer.org website for issue a notification regarding admission to UG Courses, which include the admission programme i.e. calendar for admission to UG courses. The interested and qualified students apply online. A copy of online duly complete form along with attested copies of all documents is submitted to ARC center. ARC center verify all the documents if any lacuna, it is informed to respective student.  The corrected application form is submitted. According to schedule MCAER display/ publish the entire merit list. Minimum one week allotted for grievances then final corrected merit list is displayed. According to the admission schedule the list of First round is displayed, which is valid for three days. Then Second, Third if required Fourth round will displayed and admissions are completed. The vacant positions are filled up by spot round. The spot round is arranged at respective college center.

System of Education

The College of Food Technology is having internal quality assurance system  with appropriate academic and ministerial staffs with their well define activities and responsibilities for planning guiding and monitoring quality assurance and quality enhancement activities i.e. making the highly qualified and skilled human resources in the field of Food Technology and Science to serve as technical manpower for Food Industries, MNCs, state level and recruited in national and international institutes/research  station. Moreover, the need base basic and applied research carried out by the academic staff members results in to dissemination of technology/ recommendations for the entrepreneur, youth, FPOs and farmwomen. However, the extracurricular activities in cultural, literary events make the enhancement of student’s personality and overall developments.
